Imagine my surprise when my wife turned up one day with a new present for me, a
KitchenAid
600. Now I am a bit of an amateur chef and I like nothing more than thinking up recipes to try out on my long suffering but very patient family, so for her to buy me a stand mixer and a
KitchenAid
600 stand mixer no less was a great and very gratefully recieved present indeed.
I have often thought about buying a
KitchenAid
stand mixer and the 600 model is the one that I have coveted but for one reason or another I had never got round to it. Now I have one I realise what I have been missing and I do think that the
KitchenAid
600 is possibly the best stand mixer on the market today and I wouldn't swap it for the world. A truly bold statement. "The Best Stand Mixer? How can you possibly back that statement up?" you might say. Well yes alright, everything is subjective and down to personal preference but after owning and breaking quite a few stand mixers in the last few years and the fact that I haven't managed to break this one yet, I am happy to make that statement.
Where do I start? Well the range of colors seems to be never ending from white to onyx black, from blue steel to pearl metallic and a whole lot more inbetween with a beautiful smooth but tough finish which allows you to keep your stand mixer's paintwork in pristine condition with nothing more than a damp cloth. The
KitchenAid
600 comes with a more than ample 6 quart mixing bowl and a powerful 10 speed, 575 watt motor enabling you to power through any mix you can dream of. I am a fan of making my own bread and I make at least 3 mixtures a week easily with no fuss and no mess. The
KitchenAid
600 comes supplied with a pouring shield to minimize splashes when adding ingredients and also something called the soft start which allows the machine to accelerate slowly so you don't get a face full of flour if the machine starts at 1000mph as some stand mixers seem to do.
For safety the
KitchenAid
600 also comes with an auto shut off if the motor were to get overloaded. A great feature which prevents damage to the machine and more importantly your home from an over heating piece of electrical equipment. There are also a great amount of attachments available to be used with the
KitchenAid
600 stand mixer allowing an extremely varied experience from mixing stiff doughs for bread to perfect fluffy egg whites for that ultimate meringue. So, is the
KitchenAid
600 a stand mixer that you would want to own? That's for you to decide. I didn't realise it was for me until I got one, now I wouldn't have anything else.
What you need to do is take a look and imagine one in your kitchen and see the look on your friends faces when they see that you have a
KitchenAid
600 in your home.
